MESO’s first pieces are expected in late 2026. The answers below describe how orders will work from then.
If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, write to us at hello@mesojewels.com.
01Our Craft
Where is MESO made?
Between Lebanon and France. The metalwork is done by goldsmiths in Bourj Hammoud, Beirut’s historic jewelry quarter. Vermeil plating and, where needed, beadwork and stringing are carried out by partner ateliers in France that we work with closely.
02Materials
What is vermeil?
Vermeil is sterling silver coated with a substantial layer of gold. Under French regulations, the silver base must be at least 800 thousandths fine, and the gold layer must meet a minimum of 750 thousandths, equivalent to 18-karat gold, with a thickness of at least 5 microns.
This sets vermeil apart from conventional gold plating, which can be applied in much thinner layers over a wide range of base metals, including non-precious ones. The result is a precious material with the warmth of gold and the substance of silver.
Is vermeil hypoallergenic?
Vermeil is generally well tolerated, as it combines a sterling silver base with a layer of gold. As with all jewelry, individual sensitivities can vary. If your skin is particularly reactive, write to us before ordering and we will advise you.
What gold do you use?
Our gold pieces are made in 18-karat yellow gold.
Do you offer silver?
A small selection of pieces is made in sterling silver. Each product page states the material.
03Sizing & Fit
How do I choose the right size?
Each product page lists the dimensions of the piece. If you have any doubt, write to hello@mesojewels.com and we will be happy to advise.
My size is not listed. Can I still order?
A piece may be available in a fixed range of sizes, or made to your size, depending on the material.
- Vermeil and silver pieces are produced in the range of sizes shown on each product page. Sizes outside that range cannot be produced.
- Gold pieces can be produced in any size, as each is made to order. Production takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks. For sizes that require a meaningful increase in the amount of gold used, the price may be adjusted accordingly.
My piece does not sit comfortably. What should I do?
A piece of jewelry should never feel uncomfortable. Write to hello@mesojewels.com and we will find a solution with you.
04Care & Longevity
How should I care for my MESO jewelry?
A few habits will keep your piece at its best, whatever the material:
- Keep it away from water, heat, perfume, lotions, and friction.
- Store it in a cool, dry place, ideally in its pouch or box.
- Avoid sealing it inside a closed box for very long stretches. Jewelry benefits from being worn.
Are there specific guidelines for vermeil?
Vermeil is precious but living. Avoid contact with chlorine, salt water, soap, perfumes, and household cleaning products, as these wear down the gold layer over time. When the surface dulls, a gentle polish with the cloth included in your box is usually enough to restore its shine.
Why has my vermeil developed a patina?
This is natural and expected. Over time, vermeil develops a soft patina that reflects how the piece has been worn, part of how the material lives with you. A polish with your MESO cloth will revive the original brightness whenever you wish.
My piece is leaving marks on my skin.
Vermeil and silver can occasionally react to skin chemistry or to residues from skincare and perfume. A gentle polish with the cloth usually resolves this. If not, write to hello@mesojewels.com.
Can I wear my jewelry in the shower, the pool, or the sea?
We strongly recommend against it. Water, chlorine, salt, and soap all shorten the life of a piece, particularly anything in vermeil or silver.
05After-Sales, Repairs & Re-Plating
Is my MESO jewelry guaranteed?
Every MESO piece is guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase, on proof of purchase. For vermeil, this includes the gold layer: if it wears abnormally within that year, we re-plate the piece free of charge. After the first year, re-plating is available as a paid service.
This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights, including the two-year legal guarantee of conformity (Terms, section 9). It does not cover:
- Damage from misuse, impact, or accident.
- Wear resulting from contact with water, chemicals, or cosmetics.
- Pieces altered or repaired by anyone other than MESO.
My piece is damaged. What should I do?
Write to hello@mesojewels.com with your order number and photographs of the piece. We will assess the situation and propose the most appropriate course of action.
Do you offer repairs?
We do, within the limits of each material:
- Simple work, such as reassembly, clasp replacement and restringing, is carried out by our partner ateliers in France, for every piece.
- Gold pieces can be repaired more broadly, including metalwork. We provide a quote on request.
- Vermeil and silver pieces can be repaired in a limited number of cases. Metalwork on these materials is not always possible without compromising the piece, and we will be transparent with you if a repair is not feasible.
When a piece is under warranty and the issue qualifies, the repair is at our cost. Outside of warranty, we offer a repair service on quote.
How long do repairs take?
Around six weeks, depending on the work involved and the time of year. Pieces requiring metalwork may take longer.
Do you offer re-plating?
Yes. Vermeil pieces can be re-plated to restore the gold finish through polishing and a fresh gold bath. The fee depends on the piece, and we provide a quote on request. Re-plating restores the surface only, not deeper alterations to the underlying metal.
My piece looks oxidized.
A polish with the MESO cloth is usually all that is needed. If the marks persist, write to us and we will advise.
I have not heard back about my repair.
Each repair is tracked individually. Write to hello@mesojewels.com for a status update.
06Custom Orders & Special Projects
Do you make custom pieces?
We take on a small number of custom projects each year, in gold and precious stones. Each begins with a feasibility study by our team. To start the conversation, write to hello@mesojewels.com.
Can you create a piece around a stone I already own?
In most cases, yes. We are glad to discuss designing a piece around a stone in your possession.
How are custom pieces priced?
Each project is quoted individually, according to the complexity of the design, the weight of gold, and the stones involved.
07Orders & Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, and PayPal. For orders shipped within France, payment in several installments is available through Alma.
Is payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed through Shopify’s secure checkout. Your card details are not stored by MESO.
When is payment taken on made-to-order pieces?
Made-to-order pieces are paid in full at the time of order. Production begins once payment is received.
Can I modify or cancel my order?
In-stock pieces are dispatched quickly, so any change should be requested promptly. Write to hello@mesojewels.com with your order number. If production or shipping has not yet begun, we will be glad to help.
My payment is not going through. What should I do?
Try again from a different browser or device. If the issue persists, write to hello@mesojewels.com and we will look into it with you directly.
08Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship?
Worldwide, from Paris.
Is shipping free?
Yes. MESO offers free shipping on every order, to every destination, with no minimum.
Which carriers do you use?
DHL Express, UPS, FedEx, Chronopost, or Colissimo, selected according to destination. Every order is fully insured and requires a signature upon delivery. A tracking link is sent by email as soon as your order ships.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on the piece:
- In-stock pieces, including vermeil and silver, are dispatched within 2 to 3 business days.
- Made-to-order pieces, including gold, are produced over 4 to 6 weeks, occasionally longer for more elaborate designs.
Each product page indicates the lead time that applies. Once dispatched, delivery itself typically takes 2 to 5 business days.
Are duties and taxes included?
For orders shipped to the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, and Japan, all duties and taxes are included. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.
For all other destinations, local customs duties may apply on arrival and are the recipient’s responsibility. We recommend checking with your local customs office in advance. Should a parcel be refused or left unclaimed, additional shipping and handling charges may apply on its return to us.
09Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
Online orders may be returned for refund within 30 days of receipt, provided the piece is unworn and in its original condition. To qualify:
- The piece must show no signs of wear, scratches, or traces of perfume or cosmetics.
- The original ceramic packaging and certificate of authenticity must be returned with the piece.
- The return must be sent in a rigid cardboard box, fully insured. Returns shipped in envelopes cannot be accepted.
Each return is inspected by our team before being processed. Pieces showing visible wear are not eligible for refund.
How do I request a return?
Write to returns@mesojewels.com with your order number. We send a prepaid label, and its cost (from €6 in France to €23 for the United States and the rest of the world) is deducted from your refund. Refunds are issued within 15 business days of receipt and inspection. Full details are on Shipping & Returns.
Can I exchange a piece?
MESO does not process direct exchanges. To acquire a different piece, please return the original item and place a new order. This ensures the piece you want is reserved without delay.
Can I return a made-to-order or custom piece?
Yes. Made-to-order gold pieces can be returned within 30 days of receipt, on the same conditions as every other piece. Pieces made to your own specifications, such as a size outside the listed range, an engraving or a custom project, cannot be returned, as they are produced specifically for you.
What if my piece arrives with a defect?
Every piece is inspected before dispatch. In the unlikely event that you notice a manufacturing defect, damage in transit, or receive a piece different from your order, please write to returns@mesojewels.com within seven (7) days of receipt, including photographs. MESO will arrange, at its expense, a replacement or full refund.
10Packaging
How will my order arrive?
Each piece is presented in a MESO box, accompanied by a pouch and a polishing cloth, ready for gifting as it arrives. We do not offer additional gift wrap.
11Sustainability
What is MESO’s approach to sustainability?
We work in small quantities, with materials we source ourselves and with ateliers we visit in person. Our pieces are designed to be worn, repaired, re-plated, and kept, not replaced.
Within our offices, we recycle, work with responsible suppliers wherever possible, and aim to keep our footprint deliberate rather than excessive. This is an ongoing practice, and we will share more as our work continues.
